Our Approach to Sustainability
We believe beautiful things should be made with consideration — for the people who make them, the materials we use and the world around us.
At Dune the Label, we consider the journey of our products from seed to sheet. From the flax used to create our linen, to the people who craft each piece and the way it arrives at your door, we’re continually looking for more thoughtful ways to create.
Linen, naturally
Linen begins with flax — a naturally resilient plant that requires relatively little water and can be grown with minimal intervention.
The flax plant is incredibly versatile, with different parts of the plant able to be used for a variety of purposes. The fibres within the stalk are carefully harvested and transformed into linen, while other parts of the plant can be used for products such as linseed oil and flaxseed.
Our linen is sourced from the Normandy region of France, an area renowned for its flax production. The flax is transformed into the beautiful, durable linen we love for its natural texture, breathability and longevity.
Thoughtfully made
Our linen is then crafted by a family-owned manufacturing partner in Shenzhen, with more than 15 years of experience.
We believe quality extends beyond the finished product. It also means considering the people and processes behind it.
Our manufacturing partner holds SA8000 certification, an internationally recognised standard focused on social accountability and ethical working conditions.
Our linen is also OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, meaning it has been tested for harmful substances according to the standard's requirements.
Our manufacturing partner is also Organic Content Standard (OCS) 2.0 verified, providing traceability and verification of organic material within certified products.
Considered packaging
We want the arrival of your Dune pieces to feel just as considered as the product itself.
Our linen is packaged in reusable linen drawstring bags and shipped using recycled packaging, helping us minimise unnecessary packaging and avoid excess plastic wherever possible.
Made to last
We believe one of the most sustainable things we can do is create pieces that are made to be loved for a long time.
Linen is naturally strong and durable and becomes softer and more beautiful with use and washing. With the right care, quality linen can be enjoyed for many years.
And because linen is a natural plant-based fibre, it can eventually return to the earth at the end of its useful life.
For us, sustainability isn't about being perfect. It's about being thoughtful — choosing quality over excess, creating pieces with longevity in mind and continually looking for better ways to do things.
Beautifully made. Thoughtfully considered. Made to last.
